Die Geschichte ist wahr: Am Neujahrsmorgen ging ich Laufen. Der Himmel hing tief und schwer über mir, aus grauen Wolken stürzten große Regentropfen träge nach unten, prallten auf mich und rannen an mir zähflüssig herab. Ich hörte MONOLITHE und gab mich ganz der Musik hin. Nach einigen Kilometern verlor sich die Welt um mich herum und Körper und Geist gerieten in eine Art Trance. Ich lief einen Hügel hinauf und hinein in ein wunderbares warmes Gleißen. Ich kam zu mir zurück und sah am Himmel vor mir einen intensiven doppelten Regenbogen. Ich hörte den Beginn von „Gravitiy Flood“. Ich weiß, dass ich diesen Moment niemals vergessen werde. Diesen Moment allein mit mir, dem Universum. Und MONOLITHE. Ich fühlte tiefes Glück. Ich spürte etwas, das Beben einer Essenz, das Leben, all die Atome, aus denen ich bestehe, jedes einzelne von ihnen war mir gleich lieb. Ich sah nach oben. Ich fühlte Dankbarkeit und Liebe.

Jetzt könnt Ihr mich alle auslachen. Aber genau so war es. Wie pathetisch, kitschig, wahnsinnig es auch klingen mag.

Ich liebe MONOLOITHE. Weil sie mich öffnen. Weil sie geben, schenken, verteilen. Weil sie Musik machen, die bleibt. Was ist das für Musik? Es ist Doom. Es ist langsam und schwer. Es finden sich Spuren von Dark und Gothic. Es finden sich Synthieflächen, elektronische Gebirge, die mich an Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre und Pink Floyd erinnern. Es gibt schwere Gitarren, erhabene Riffs, groovend, schiebend, über denen in feiner Filigranität melancholische Melodien unbekannte Welten und mystische Artefakte besingen. Das Schlagzeug führt all diese Tentakel, Pfade, verschlungenen Tonfolgen und Gedankenwellenberge in eine Richtung, baut ihnen einen festen Damm durch all das Uferlos. Darüber bricht sich Monsieur Sébastien Pierre mit einem getragenen, immer wieder auch aggressiv sich erhebenden Growlen Bahn und passt sich mit seinem energetischen Agieren tief in die Struktur, das Wesen, den Organismus der Songs ein.

Der harmonisch dunklen Musik folgt der Sound, der den Instrumenten und der Stimme wuchtig und weit Raum verschafft und unendliche Breite wie Tiefe vermittelt. Erwähnenswert ist auch das Konzept der 7 (Album Nr.7, 7 Musiker, 7 Songs á la 7 Minuten, 7 Tonarten, Liedtitel von A bis G), mit dem es sich zu beschäftigen lohnt und das der Musik zusätzlich eine intellektuelle Dimension verleiht. Das Album baut sich für mich zudem in seiner Stimmung langsam und gemächlich auf und erreicht seinen emotionalen Höhepunkt in den beiden letzten Liedern „Fathom The Deep“ und „Gravity Flood“, und es ist nur konsequent, dass ein Instrumental das Album beendet. Denn so steht die Musik am Ende gänzlich nackt, jeglicher menschlichen Ausdrucksform beraubt, für sich ganz allein in Raum und Zeit. Und das gelingt ihr in überwältigend schöner und anmutiger Weise.

Fazit: MONOLITHE vertonen Gefühle, Weite, das Universum, vom kleinsten Atom bis zur unendlichen Gigantomanie. Das alles gelingt ihnen mit Tönen, die nicht geheim sind, die alle offen vor uns liegen. Und doch lassen sie mit „Nebula Septem“ in jedem von uns unser Selbst erklingen und so sichtbar, hörbar, fühlbar werden. Welch grandiose Musik!

The story is true: On New Year’s morning I walked. The sky hung low and heavy above me, from gray clouds large raindrops slumped lazily down, bounced on me and ran down on me viscous. I heard MONOLITHE and gave myself completely to the music. After a few miles, the world was lost and body and mind entered a kind of trance. I ran up a hill and into a wonderful warm glare. I came back to myself and saw an intense double rainbow in the sky in front of me. I heard the beginning of „Gravitiy Flood“. I know that I will never forget this moment. This moment alone with me, the universe. And MONOLITHE. I felt deep happiness. I sensed something, the quiver of an essence, the life, all the atoms that make up my life, and and I loved each of them in the same way and intensity. I looked up. I felt gratitude and love.

Now you can all laugh at me. But that’s exactly how it was. How pathetic, cheesy, insane it may sound.

I love MONOLITHE. Because they open me. Because they give, donate, hand out. Because they make music that stays. What is that music? It is Doom. It’s slow and hard. There are traces of Dark and Gothic. There are synth pads, electronic mountains that remind me of Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre and Pink Floyd. There are heavy guitars, sublime riffs, grooving, shifting, over which delicate melancholy melodies sing about unknown worlds and mystical artifacts. The drums lead all these tentacles, paths, tangled sequences of sound and Thoughts-waves-mountains in one direction, building a solid dam for them through all that shoreless. Above that, Monsieur Sébastien Pierre breaks with a worn, again and again aggressively uplifting growl and, with his energetic action, fits deeply into the structure, the essence, the organism of the songs.

The harmonic dark music is followed by the sound, which gives the instruments and the voice powerful and wide space and conveys infinite breadth and depth. Also noteworthy is the concept of the 7 (album No.7, 7 musicians, 7 songs á la 7 minutes, 7 keys, song titles from A to G), with which it is worth to occupy and the music additionally gives an intellectual dimension. The album builds up in my mood slowly and leisurely and reaches its emotional climax in the last two songs „Fathom The Deep“ and „Gravity Flood“, and it is only logical that an instrumental ends the album. For in the end the music is completely naked, deprived of any human form of expression, and completely alone in space and time. And she succeeds in an overwhelmingly beautiful and graceful way.

Conclusion: MONOLITHE set to music emotions, space, the universe, from the smallest atom to infinite gigantomania. All of this succeeds with tones that are not secret, which are all open to us. And yet with „Nebula Septem“ in each one of us, they let our inner self resonate and thus become visible, audible, tangible. What a great music!
